Abstract

This research presented a review of 3D printing with ultra-high performance fiber reinforced cement-based composite, considering technical, economic and environmental aspects. 3D printed concrete (3DPC) is a rapid prototyping technology based on 3-dimensional building information model. Because of advantages of 3D printed method compared to conventional method, such as none-framework, low labor cost and quick construction, the value of 3D printed method has been greatly improved for the researches. The advantages fiber reinforced cement-based composite included superior tensile property, crack control ability, shape ability and cost control as conventional concrete. Therefore, the application of fiber reinforced cement and geopolymer mortar composites are becoming more and more extensive. In this paper, the recent research development about 3D printed ultra-high performance fiber reinforced cement-based composite is proposed. The category of 3D printable fiber reinforced cement-based composite, workability of 3D printable fiber reinforced cement-based composite during printing and the mechanical property in hardened state. Furthermore, the future opportunities and current challenges in 3D printable fiber reinforced cement-based composite technology are discussed.
