A NOVEL INVERTER FAULT-TOLERANT TOPOLOGY FOR FAULTS IN PMSM DRIVE SYSTEMS

Abstract

To achieve unified fault tolerance for both motor-side and inverter-side faults in Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) drive systems, a novel three-level inverter fault-tolerant topology targeting PMSM drive system faults is proposed. This topology enables fault-tolerant control for a variety of fault types with relatively low additional costs. A corresponding fault-tolerant control algorithm is designed for this topology, along with an adaptive sliding mode controller for adaptive control of the motor drive system under both normal and various fault conditions. Simulation and experimental results demonstrate the fault tolerance capabilities of this topology and the superiority of the sliding mode control approach.
